Το “Why Me? Why Not” κυκλοφόρησε το Σεπτέμβριο του 2019 στη Warner Records. Ο τίτλος του δίσκου προέκυψε από του δύο πίνακες του John Lennon που έχει στην κατοχή του ο Liam Gallagher. Τον πρώτο με τον τίτλο “Why Me?” το είχε αγοράσει σε μία έκθεση με με έργα του Lennon στο Μόναχο το 1997, ενώ η Yoko Ono, τού έκανε δώρο το δεύτερο πίνακα με τίτλο “Why Not”.
To “Once” είναι το δεύτερο τραγούδι που ξεχώρησε από το δεύτερο solo studio album του Liam Gallagher. Ο Βρετανός ηγέτης των Oasis και οπαδός της Manchester City αποφάσισε να συνεργαστεί για το video clip με τον θρύλο της Manchester United όταν είδε το βίντεο που ανέβασε ο ίδιος ο Eric Cantona όπου τραγουδάει το “Once” καθισμένος στον καναπέ του σπιτιού του.
Ο Γάλλος δήλωσε ότι είναι το καλύτερο τραγούδι της χρονιάς κι ο Liam ότι είναι ενθουσιασμένος που έχει τον τελευταίο rock ‘n’ roll ποδοσφαιριστή να πρωταγωνιστεί στο video για το “Once”, λέγοντας ότι τραγούδια σαν αυτό δεν γίνονται συχνά, ούτε ποδοσφαιριστές σαν τον Καντονά .
Γυρίστηκε στο Gunnersbury House στο δυτικό Λονδίνο όπου ο μουσικός ήρωας του John Lennon, είχε γυρίσει το video για το σημαντικότερο ίσως τραγούδι του, το Imagine.
Ο Liam Gallagher παίζει το ρόλο του μπάτλερ υπηρετώντας τον Eric Cantona που πρωταγωνηστεί τραγουδώντας τους στίχους με ένα ποτήρι κρασί στο χέρι, περπατώντας μέσα στο άδειο παλάτι φορώντας τη ρόμπα του και παίζωντας λίγο στο πιάνο, πριν τελικά αποφασίσει να βάλει το στέμα του και να μπει στη Rolls Royce με σωφέρ τον δημιουργό του τραγουδιού, τον Liam Gallagher που περιμένει τον βασιλιά Eric Cantona κρατώντας την πόρτα.
“Why Me? Why Not” is the second solo studio album by English singer and songwriter Liam Gallagher, released on 20 September 2019 by Warner Records. The album’s name comes from two drawings by John Lennon that Gallagher owns. The first titled “Why Me?” was bought by Gallagher from a John Lennon art exhibition in Munich in 1997 and the second titled “Why Not” was given to Gallagher by Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono.
Cantona posted a video of himself singing the song while sitting on a couch.
“When two Manchester legends meet,” wrote the Frenchman, calling Once his “song of the year”.
I’m absolutely thrilled to have Eric Cantona, the last rock ‘n’ roll footballer, star in my video for Once,” said Liam. “Songs like this don’t come around very often and neither do football players like him.”
The decadent surroundings and white-painted walls of Gunnersbury House in West London are reminiscent of the Ascot home in which Gallagher’s musical hero John Lennon famously filmed the video for his classic song, Imagine.
Video begins with Eric “The King” summoning “R Kid” to refill his wine glass, before he strolls shirtless through his palace, glugging wine and tinkling on a grand piano.
He then claims his crown and heads outside, where his humble servant is waiting to open the door of the Rolls Royce.
