Today’s track list includes songs with references to Constantinople and its fall, which signified the collapse of the Byzantine Empire. The lamentations, drawn primarily from the album “The Fall of the Great City”, are representative samples of the Greek music tradition of various regions, from Asia Minor to Epirus and from Crete to Thrace and Macedonia. Above all, they reflect the sadness and despair with which the popular Muse approached the fall of the metropolis of the Byzantine world.

Σήμερα ακούμε τραγούδια Ελλήνων συνθετών με αναφορές στην Κωνσταντινούπολη και θρήνους για την άλωσή της από τον δίσκο «Εάλω η Πόλις» που επιμελήθηκε το Εργαστήρι Παλιάς Μουσικής. Τα τραγούδια υπογράφουν δημιουργοί όπως ο Μαυρουδής, ο Χατζιδάκις κι ο Μαρκόπουλος, ενώ οι θρήνοι προέρχονται από διάφορες περιοχές, από τη Μικρά Ασία μέχρι την Πελοπόννησο.
