Songs from Asia Minor live from …Utrecht
Our tribute to Asia Minor songs continues today with a fantastic live recording of a concert in Utrecht, Holland on 15 December 2007. We will be listening to the special voice of Katerina Papadopoulou and to two colossal soloists, oud player and singer Christos Tsiamoulis and politiki lyra player Sokratis Sinopoulos. The title of the album is Politiki Zygia, i.e. Zygia from Istanbul, with zygia meaning a duo of instruments – in this case politiki lyra and oud. A musical journey with stops in Istanbul, Pontos, Thrace, Macedonia, Crete and, above all, Asia Minor.

Για την ελληνική μουσική παράδοση, ζυγιά είναι το ζευγάρι δύο οργάνων που αλληλοσυμπληρώνονται. Η πολίτικη λύρα και το ούτι αποτελούν δύο από τα πιο αντιπροσωπευτικά όργανα της πολίτικης μουσικής. Η «Πολίτικη Ζυγιά» είναι η ζωντανή ηχογράφηση της συναυλίας που δόθηκε στην Ουτρέχτη της Ολλανδίας στις 15 Δεκεμβρίου 2007, από τον Χρίστο Τσιαμούλη, που τραγούδησε και έπαιξε ούτι, τον Σωκράτη Σινόπουλο, που έπαιξε πολίτικη και ποντιακή λύρα και την Κατερίνα Παπαδοπούλου που τραγούδησε και έπαιξε κρουστά.
