Κώστας Φυτιρής, Υποναύαρχος εν αποστρατεία, συντάκτης του Σχεδίου “Αμάλθεια”, που αφορά στο σχηματισμό θαλάσσιου διαδρόμου, για την αποστολή ανθρωπιστικής βοήθειας, απ΄ την Κύπρο για τη Λωρίδα της Γάζας: “Το σχέδιο “Αμάλθεια” απέδειξε στη διεθνή κοινότητα πως η Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία έχει τις ικανότητες και τις δυνατότητες να φέρνει σε πέρας σημαντικές επιχειρήσεις, που την καθιστούν απαραίτητο κόμβο για το διεθνές σύστημα!! Η διαρκής αναβάθμιση της ισχύος και του ρόλου μας, στην ανατολική Μεσόγειο, είναι βέβαιο πως μπορεί να εξισορροπήσει τη στρατιωτική ισχύ της Τουρκίας…”.
