Ο James Baldwin (1924-1987) ένας από τους μεγαλύτερους μεταπολεμικούς Αμερικανούς συγγραφείς και εμβληματική μορφή του κινήματος πολιτικών δικαιωμάτων, γεννήθηκε στο Χάρλεμ της Νέας Υόρκης στις 2 Αυγούστου του 1924.
Στην εκπομπή “Καλημέρα” του 9,58fm, τη Δευτέρα 2 Αυγούστου 2021 μιλήσαμε με την Άλκηστι Τριμπέρη για τον Τζέιμς Μπόλντουιν και τα βιβλία του: “Δεν είμαι ο νέγρος σου” με κείμενα του James Baldwin, επιμέλεια του Raoul Peck (μετάφραση: Ισμήνη Θεοδωροπούλου) / “Το κουαρτέτο του Χάρλεμ” (μετάφραση: Χρήστος Οικονόμου) και “Αν η Beale Street μπορούσε να μιλήσει” (το βιβλίο μετέφρασε η ίδια, η Άλκηστις Τριμπέρη). Και τα τρία βιβλία κυκλοφορούν από τις εκδόσεις Πόλις
