Ελισάβετ της Αυστρίας (Πριγκίπισσα Σίσυ)

Οι Αψβούργοι είχαν παραμερίσει την ψυχικά και σωματικά άρρωστη πριγκίπισσα Σίσυ που είχε τολμήσει να εκφράσει φιλελεύθερες ιδέες για τα ζητήματα της Ουγγαρίας και της Ιταλίας. Μόνη της γιατρειά, τα ταξίδια.

Ο ιταλικής καταγωγής, Luigi Lucheni, θέλει να σκοτώσει πάση θυσία έναν γαλαζοαίματο για να εκδικηθεί τη συντριβή της εξέγερσης των εργατών στο Μιλάνο. Η Σίσυ είναι ο πιο εύκολος στόχος. Μέσα στην ανθοδέσμη του κρύβει ένα μαχαίρι και περιμένει έξω από το ξενοδοχείο Beau Rivage στη Γενεύη. Ήταν 10 Σεπτεμβρίου του 1898.
