Αναζήτησε το απλό μέσα από μια ειλικρινή στάση. Ουδέποτε υπηρέτησε την στρατευμένη τέχνη αλλά και ουδέποτε παραδόθηκε σε έναν στείρο αντικομμουνισμό διότι πολύ απλά, ο μεγάλος πολωνός σκηνοθέτης Κριστόφ Κισλόφσκι, δεν ξέχασε ποτέ το πόσο σημαντικό είναι να σου δίνουν δωρεάν τα μέσα δημιουργίας. Αναζήτησε τις ιδέες της Γαλλικής Επανάστασης μέσα από την τριλογία των χρωμάτων (Μπλε, Λευκή, Κόκκινη ταινία) και έδειξε τον πόνο του πρόσφυγα κόβοντας στα δύο Τη ζωή της Βερόνικας.
